Recently I read an article in Foster’s about the local economy. Dover’s unemployment rate is around 3% ! outstanding..
Pretty close to full employment as the town continues to grow an attract new opportunities for employment. Over the past decade Dover’s been subject to the success of big employers like Liberty Mutual and Wentworth Douglass Hospital. These companies employ thousands of residents. Many smaller to mid size firms are making a comeback from the recession of 2008. Flexible office space helps small to mid size firms compete and the Washington st. Mills are a large facilitator. A big question remains is when are we going to get the waterfront project underway? That could really propel growth and keep those employment numbers strong.
