Home improvements: window trims

I was thinking more about seacoast real estate and replacement windows from yesterday.

Continuing with this topic I thought it was necessary to discuss trim work. In most cases, a really nice window has attractive modeling or trim around it. That being said, It’s important to hire a finished carpenter to make this sparkle. The actual window is great for improving your heating costs, improving light to the space, and general function. However, a skilled carpenter can deliver attractive trim work and this really improves the ascetics. Ultimately, it depends on your motivation. If your a land lord and your not too concerned with the ascetics then do it yourself works as well. In the end, it’s very obvious when things are done by a professional.

Also, many times folks will try to reuse the existing trim. Most of the time this wood is older with nicks, chips, and appears worn. Why spend $300 on a new window and use old trim? Purchasing new window trim lumber is not that expensive. Spend a little extra and some time to prime and paint and you will notice a big difference. I write this posting because typically I’m frugal when it comes to these things.  However, I’ve spent years working on apartments, selling real estate, and repairing homes.  I’ve noticed that if your looking to sell your home people will notice the little things.  I’m looking forward blogging the seacoast condo report tomorrow reporting the broker data for you!
